Here are the requirements for your final researched argument (big paper) due at end of the semester.
Due date is November 29th, 2020 (11:59 pm)
Please email me if you are having difficulties.
The Letter of Completion is not due until the following week.
Topic—it is up to all of you. It just needs to be an arguable, approved topic.
The research paper must be 3600 to 4500 words long (approximately 12 to 15 pages double-spaced), including the bibliography (also known as reference page or works cited page) but not appendices. Points will be deducted for reports that are shorter than this. It should follow MLA, APA or Turabian manuscript style. If you want to submit it electronically, please do so via Microsoft Word format (.doc) or Rich Text Format (.rtf).
Here are the requirements for which you’ll be graded:
A minimum of ten different sources must be cited in the report and listed on the Works Cited (bibliography) page.
These ten sources need to include one periodical article from Auraria Library and one source from original field research (an interview or survey). The other sources may be of any type.
A paper without a Works Cited/Reference list will automatically receive a zero.
The paper can incorporate a minimum of one long and two short quotations from these sources. Long quotations may not be longer than ten lines.
Your research topic may not be changed after it has been approved. It may, however, be expanded or narrowed as appropriate. A single individual or organization is not a good topic for the research paper.
Be sure to include appropriate parenthetical references after cited material. Failure to do so will result in a zero.
Your paper must be composed in Times New Roman (12 pt), Courier (10 pt) or Verdana (10 pt).
Previous classes have argued anything and everything from genetically-modified foods, assisted suicide, gun control, private prisons, bullying, social networks, the lack of quality reporting due to the rise of Internet journalism, bioengineering designer babies, “slut shaming,”—you name it. We are open to all topics.
Please do not use second person. First person or third are fine.
