Explore your state’s department of corrections at Corrections Departments by State, and find statistics for your state (this is
necessary for Part 2). If you are currently outside the United States, then select a state in the United States that you would
like to use. Be sure to answer the questions listed below.
How many facilities are in the state?
What security levels are present?
Are there any special facilities (such as for women)?
Are there any other facts you would like to add from the website?
After completing your research, complete the assignment in two parts according to specifications below.
Part 1 (one page)
Explain the differences between jails and prisons using your chapter reading, as well as the unit lesson.

Part 2 (two pages)
