Chap 3 DB
Most people have at least a small unconscious bias against gays and lesbians that influences their behavior in ways they are not even aware of. You can test your own implicit bias against gays and lesbians by taking this online test from the Project Implicit (Links to an external site.) web page. First, click “I wish to proceed” and then select “Sexuality IAT” from the list. Try taking a test—the results will likely surprise you.
Completing an implicit association test enables a person to witness the tension between one’s explicit, conscious beliefs versus one’s unconscious. less controllable attitudes. Did you experience this tension while taking the IAT for sexual orientation? What was your experience like? Did your results surprise you?

Chap 4 DB
Imagine you’re a counselor working with a couple where one of them enjoys pornography and the other doesn’t and finds it to be threatening to their relationship. Please offer two well-reasoned pieces of advice to the couple and then comment on how you would feel about your partner’s use of pornography.
Chap 5 DB
Describe three of the most important qualities you would want in a long-term partner and explain why these are so important to you.
Chap 6 DB
Describe three reasons why you think someone would have problems with their sexual functioning. I do not want a list from your text. I’d like to hear your own creative suggestions.
Chap 7 DB
Do you think it is cheating if one fantasizes about another while having sex with his/her partner? Why or why not? Also, what is your definition of ‘having sex’?
Chap 8 DB
Suppose you were in charge of developing a sex ed curriculum for 8th and 9th graders. What percentage of your curriculum would be devoted to pleasure? to disease prevention? to pregnancy prevention? to abstinence? Why?
Chap 9 DB
Abortion is one of the most hotly debated political issues. Under what circumstances would you support a woman’s right to have an abortion? Why? When answering why, please expound on how it is that you came to your position. It’s not enough to say, for example, “because I believe it’s not ‘right'”. You need to say how it is that you came to the position that ‘it’s not right.’ Who told you? Where did you learn that? What process did you go through to decide that?
Chap 10 DB

Chap 12 DB
Watch this video:
Tea Consent (Clean) (Links to an external site.)
What is your general reaction to this video? At what age would you introduce this video into your sex ed curriculum? Why?
Chap 13 DB
At least 20% of people in the U.S. have had a viral STI, and the percentage of people who have had any STI is even higher. At what juncture in a ‘relationship’ (defined loosely…to include ‘hooking up’) do you inform your partner that you have an STI history? Why? Does the timing of your disclosure (depending on whether you disclose at all) depend on whether it is a viral or bacterial STI? Why or why not?
