The learning objective of this report is to help you learn to research and write an analytical or problem-solving report using formal report style. Please see the course objectives to understand where this assignment fits in your learning process
I want you to play the role of a consultant who has been asked to solve a problem at a Canadian non-profit organization. You could find a problem which non-profits are having generally or choose a local charity and ask them what a major issue is for them right now.
For instance, donations have fallen during Covid -19 for many provincial and national non-profits, but locally you might find there is a problem finding volunteers because of fear of contracting the virus or because fewer university and college students are in Thunder Bay, so charities must cancel fundraisers because of lack of workers. You will be writing an analytical report because your conclusions and recommendations will indicate how to solve the problem. Your secondary research must be conducted through the Paterson Library.
You can approach this report answering any of the questions related to feasibility reports, recommendation reports or justification reports. If you have a different take on the topic, please explain it to me for approval.
The preparatory work, which is included in this assignment must be completed and submitted with the report. However, if you want the Work Plan and References List checked before you submit the report, please submit them no later than the Friday before Study Break
The formal style analytical report is due at midnight on October 24. The required length of the Introduction, Findings, Conclusions and Recommendation(s) is about 5 pages. The preliminary matter, references and Appendices will add to the length of the report.
Note that the third presentation in the course is a presentation about your report. Instructions will be provided.
