Chapter 3 in Hughes, et. al, builds upon the concept of Skills for Developing Yourself as a Leader and walks you through various areas of development that are important for you to address. Figures 3.2 and 3.3 speak to the issue of how to engage in a gap analyses as one type of model for engaging in an assessment and development process.
Your assignment is to develop your personal leadership development plan. This will be a beginning plan that will ultimately expand as your final assignment. However, the initial assignment positions you to take a critical look at you, your goals and where you currently assess your strengths and areas and the rationale for including them into your development plan.
There is a required reading—Deep change by Quinn. However, you are to also look for additional peer-reviewed articles (minimum 5 and properly cited within text and in your reference page) that addresses leadership development and use them as additional resources in your introduction to your personal development plan and how the information they convey fits into the foundational praxes of how you went about engaging in the design of this plan.
You will be evaluated based upon how deep you chose to examine your movement towards becoming an effective leader.
Provide a comprehensive summary of at least 5 key points addressed by these articles. Did you find the literature to be comprehensive and why? Did it adequately address the criticality of the issues and what are the bases for your reasons? Where were the gaps that you believe should have been addressed and if so, what were those gaps? Of, if you felt the issues were adequately address, discuss why.
