Hypothetical Case. Brad Carter, a computer hacker, and aspiring comedian founded the Phone Losers of America, a network of prank callers. Carter, whose “stage” name is RBCP, hosts a regular podcast and YouTube channel of prank calls called The Snow Plow Show. In one such prank, Carter called a pizza store claiming to be from the corporate office and talked the employee into giving him the names, phone numbers, and order details of the people who had most recently placed orders to that store. Juvenile hilarity ensued as Carter then made a prank call to one of the individuals who had ordered a pizza. In the call, Carter (falsely) represents that he is the manager of the pizza store and tells the customer—who is a strict vegetarian and had ordered a vegetarian pizza—that his pizza would have to include sausage because the sausage would otherwise go to waste. The conversation lasts about 15 minutes and ends with the frustrated customer calling the store and canceling his order (for which he had not yet paid). Unfortunately for the pizza store, it had already made the pizza and was preparing to deliver it.
