As presented in the video above, political scientists have found different patterns of voter turnout in the U.S. We have also have identified reasons why voter turnout is low in comparison to other democracies. Your task in this class discussion is two-fold.
1. First, find someone who has voted before and interview them. Next, compare the person interviewed to the patterns we know about those who vote (i.e. higher education, higher income, older, race and ethnicity, connections to voting or network level group membership, interest in politics). You can use your self if you have voted. Do you or this person fit or buck the trend?
2. Secondly, please identify at least two barriers to voting. You are free to use ideas presented by the authors or think of your own. However, be sure to cite any ideas you take from other sources properly. For your identified barriers, provide some ideas on how these could potentially be solved. Once again, if you get the idea from another source, be sure to properly cite.
Also, how can we make voting easier and yet protect the integrity of the process?
