Select one of the theorists in items 1 through item 4 as the topic for you

Once you have chosen a theorist from the above list, you can begin your research. I recommend using the objectives listed below as a guide for your paper. Because this is a research paper, students should format the paper according to APA guidelines. There is no need for students to purchase the current edition of the APA manual. There are plenty of online resources that will help you format your paper according to current guidelines. Please refer to the “Helpful Resources” folder within the Research Paper folder to access these links including a PowerPoint presentation I have created to help students format their papers. Please make sure that all the information cited in your paper is accurate and that you are referencing valid and reliable sources (No Wikis). Your textbook is always a great place to start, but I do recommend utilizing a minimum of three sources for an effective paper. Your textbook can be one of the three sources.

Points will be awarded based on your ability to address each of the objectives listed below accurately and effectively.

**From your syllabus

” Students will complete one research paper/project in this course. Detailed information is available above with topics and objectives for each research assignment. Research papers should be no less than 5 pages (double-spaced–excluding the title page, abstract, and reference page) and should be formatted according to APA guidelines. The purpose of the research assignments is to help students synthesize the course materials and developmental theories and apply them to real-life situations. All papers/projects MUST credit sources sufficiently. Students mustn’t PLAGIARIZE! Students must use appropriate in-text citations, quotations, and reference sources appropriately. Research papers that do not include a reference page and in-text citations will receive a score of zero. Students should utilize their text as well as other relevant sources in addressing the research paper topic. Once again, plagiarism is a serious offense, so always give credit to your sources. Although I do encourage the use of personal opinion and experience, keep in mind that students must also incorporate appropriate factual information in order to adequately cover the required objectives and provide support to the student’s opinion and experience. Any personal opinion or experience shared should be relevant to the topic and should be discussed in a professional manner using appropriate language and supported by appropriate factual information. Make sure you read the research topic thoroughly for an understanding of the objectives. Each objective is required, so students not adequately covering one of the objectives will lose points. Use the objectives as an outline for your paper. Because this is a paper, there should be a clear introduction, body, and conclusion as well as references and citations as needed. Students will need to compose their papers in a word document program. I hope that students will spend at least several days, possibly weeks, modifying and revising their papers before submitting the research assignment. While I do not deduct points for the length of the paper, I should emphasize that papers with less than five pages usually do not adequately cover the required objectives. Research papers are due by the final deadlines and times post in your schedule. NO EXCEPTIONS! Get started and submit as early as possible to avoid missing the final deadline. Students not submitting their assignment by the final deadline will receive a score of zero. If you have concerns or questions, please let me know BEFORE the final deadline. Students can earn up to 100 possible points on the research assignment for a total of 100 possible points.
